Turntable Review
If you are thinking about upgrading your vinyl based system, then
the turntable may be your best option. The latest review by Stereo
Times, of the Aurora MK2 is particularly impressive, indicating
a performance that betters decks costing an awfull lot more.
It is worth noting that this review confirms another review which
stated the Aurora MK2 as - "Surely the best £750 black disc spinner
in outright sonic terms"; HI FI WORLD 2008. Such a statement is
actually more definitive than the more common one that says effectively
- "betters decks at many times the price". Why? becuase
such a statement still doesn't say whether there are better decks
at the same price.
The Stereo times review will go a long way towards encouraging
anyone considering a new deck to look at the Origin Live range.
Although the Aurora MK2 reviewed here is the bottom of the range,
it gives a taste of what is offered by those higher up the scale.
"the Aurora MKII sets the musical and sonic standard for
its price range. It is capable of communicating the intent of all
kinds of music and of triggering the deepest and most exalted musical
ecstasy. My wholehearted recommendation.......

Feedback on the new Origin Live platter mat
In
the last newsletter, you read about the new Origin Live "Performance
Mat" £49 and the claims of a breakthrough performance.
The hopes for this mat have proved well founded and we are pleased
to report that, of over 40 mats purchased, not one has been returned
for a refund under our money back gaurantee if not satisfied.
Owner feedback has been highly positive - here are couple, printed
with the owners kind permission.
Owner comments
Until this purchase, I was using the ........ mat, which had given
a significant upgrade on the standard platter mat I had used before.
I had a few listening to some favourite music using my previous
setup, just to get a reference point and then replaced the ........
mat with your new one.
The music became more involving; and the instrument separation
was definitely superior, but the most noticeable improvement was
the clarity and depth of the bass - I could really here the runs
and note progressions far better than previously, without it overpowering
the rest of the instruments or vocals. In general, the mat seems
to bring out the music more, and gives each instrument more presence,
cementing its place in the mix. Essentially, with the mat, you feel
that much closer to actually being in the studio than without it.
The only drawback I have noticed is that it seems to makes you
notice poor production a little more, but that's a compensation
I can live with.
For the price, I would recommended this absolutely.
Once again, Origin Live have come up with another very worthwhile
and value for money product. "
Kind Regards, Rys Borowy
Have received my new platter mat and installed it on my AVID
DIVA (minus the 'tweak') and the results are amazing! Bass deeper/cleaner
and more dynamics plus greater mid/top resolution and overall wider
stage side to side and front to back. Best fifty quid spent this
year!
