ORDERING AN UPGRADE BELT

Please assume that we do not know your belt length requirement unless it's listed among the turntables opposite. There are over 2000 models of deck in the market place and we do not know them all. To overcome this problem, you will need to measure your belt length requirement and specify it in the "custom length" box of the page. This is easily done using one of the 2 methods outlined below.

There is no extra charge for custom lengths.

Belt lengths are specified in mm using the circumference (i.e The TOTAL length of the belt).

Note that these belts are flat (4.7mm in height approx and 0.75mm thick). They will not work on decks with round belts such as Rega, Michell, etc unless they have an Origin Live motor kit fitted.

Using your existing Belt

To measure the circumference (total length) of your existing belt, lay it flat against a ruler - measure the length and then double the measurement - this will give you the circumference (i.e Total length). If you measure the belt this way please tell us "measured from belt" when you order. This can be noted in the ordering online process when you come to the box that says "custom length". This method is quick but not always reliable as belts can stretch over the years or the original belt may have been replaced by one of incorrect length. The second method below is more reliable.

Using the belt path round the belt running surfaces

Alternatively you can use a length of thread or string looped round the pulley and sub-platter (or platter if belt runs on this) If needs be you can hold the thread onto running surfaces using strips of cellotape. This mimics the belt path.

Measure the thread length to give the circumference of the belt i.e the total length of the belt. If you measure the belt this way please tell us "measured from thread" when you order. This can be noted in the ordering online process when you come to a box that says "custom length". We then build your belt slightly shorter to allow it to stretch so you do not need to allow for this - just specify the exact thread length.
